Monika - Registered Massage Therapist
Massage Therapy was something I pretty much just stumbled on to. After nine years as a Dental Assistant, I felt the need to find a new career path, one that would allow me to be more independent but still feel connected to clients and still capture my interest in the biology of the human body. My sister-in-law, Patricia Cieplak, who herself was looking into Massage Therapy suggested this new direction.
I graduated from the 2200 hour program at MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy and I am registered with the Massage Therapists Association of Alberta (MTAA). As I began my career, right away I knew I had made the right decision. I felt comfortable and fascinated with how much massage can affect a person in so many different ways. This has also left me more in-tune with my own body and the importance of balance in the body and in life.
In treatment, I use a variety of techniques (including myofascial release as taught by John F. Barnes) to help my clients reach their goals. I believe that in order to achieve the best results, therapy requires a joint effort between the therapist and client. Home care will often be customized; personal stretching and strengthening exercises can be designed to facilitate healing.
Being an owner of Hunterhorn Centre of Therapeutic Massage has been a great experience, surrounded with such knowledgeable and positive people. I am so grateful to have found Massage Therapy.
