Wanda Duong DTCM, R.Ac., B.Sc. Biography
Dr. Wanda Duong's interest in health and sciences started young. With an interest in biology and physiology, she completed her bachelor's degree in biological sciences through the University of Calgary. The field of natural, alternative medicine became more known to Dr. Duong upon completion of her diploma in natural nutrition and visits with her chiropractor and naturopath during her post-secondary studies.
Growing up in a traditional Chinese family, Dr. Duong was introduced to different modalities of Chinese medicine whenever illness came on. The use of cupping, gua-sha (scrapping) and Chinese herbs were very prominent to encourage healing. Therefore, the desire to become a healing member of the alternative medicine field became a strong interest of Dr. Duong's.
As a graduate of the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dr. Duong has a passion for educating and encouraging healing on a holistic level. She is able to utilize acupuncture, cupping, gua-sha (scrapping), tui-na (TCM massage/manipulation techniques), moxibustion, auricular medicine (including acu-detoxification), diet therapy, and Chinese herbal formulas to promote balance, harmony, and healing.
Maintaining a balanced, healthy, and active lifestyle is important for Dr. Duong. She enjoys playing badminton, volleyball, and slow-pitch baseball. During the spring and summer months she enjoys dragon boating, and also practices yoga and enjoys travelling. She has a passion for painting and music and finds they are great mediums to calm the mind.
